Non-NHS Examinations
The doctors are more than happy to carry out private medicals, eg insurance, taxi driver medicals, driving licence and holiday cancellation forms by appointment only. Please telephone the practice to make an appointment for these. All services are carried out by the GPs of this practice but require direct payment to the partnership. Cheques will only be accepted with a cheque guarantee card and should be made payable to "Park Road Medical Practice".
Patients Over 75
If you are aged over 75 you should be seen annually either by your doctor, the
practice nurse, district nurse or health visitor. This can be arranged for you
at the practice or, if that is not possible, a home visit can be arranged.
Travel Immunisations And Vaccinations
Please make an appointment at least four weeks in advance of your holiday to ensure
adequate cover. A charge will be made for certain immunisations and vaccinations
which are not covered by the NHS. A list of these charges is held at reception.
We are also an authorised yellow fever vaccination centre.
Routine Health Checks
The GMS contract stipulates that all patients are seen routinely. This may be for medication reviews, health checks or chronic disease reviews.
It is most important that patients respond to invitations to attend for chronic disease management review. This is so that the doctors
are able to maintain good health care. When the receptionist informs you that you need to make an appointment for such a review, she will be doing so on the doctor’s instruction. Please do co-operate; we appreciate your support.
Flu And Pneumonia Vaccinations
An influenza and pneumonia vaccination is recommended for patients with heart,
lung or kidney disease, diabetes and residents of nursing and rest homes. Please
contact the practice in October for details of the vaccination dates and to make
an appointment. If you are unable to attend the practice, a home visit will be
arranged to undertake this facility.
